Bathroom Tiles Buying Guide

A practical guide to bathroom wall and floor tiles, including finish, grip, cleaning, and design considerations.

4 min read

Bathrooms need tiles that handle moisture, cleaning chemicals, and daily foot traffic. The wall tile and floor tile do not always need to be the same, but they should work together visually.

For bathroom floors, choose a finish with better grip. Matte or lightly textured tiles can reduce slipperiness compared with highly polished surfaces. For walls, glossy ceramic tiles can make small bathrooms feel brighter.

Tile size also changes the look of a bathroom. Larger tiles can reduce grout lines and create a cleaner appearance, while smaller feature tiles can add detail around niches, vanities, or shower areas.

When planning a bathroom, consider sanitary ware, tile adhesive, grout color, and drainage slope along with tile design. These details make the finished space easier to maintain.
